I had unprotected sex the day my period ended (no blood) It was only for a few minutes and he pulled out but said he wasn't close to ejaculation. But after so much paranoia and research I found out about pre-cum. I took Plan B one step about 2 days later (48-50 hours) After 7 days after taking it I noticed brown-blood like on my underwear. But gradually turned into regular blood and heavy bleeding at that. It only lasted 2-3 days. I am still very worried about this bleeding. Is it my period? Does it mean I'm not pregnant? Please give as much detail.
Had sex day after period. Took Plan B and bled a week after again?

The morning after pill (emergency contraceptive pill) is a safe and effective way to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex. It will be most effective if taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex. Within 24 hours is best, but it can prevent pregnancy if taken up to 120 hours (5 days) after sex. Side effects are usually short-term and mild. Some women feel sick and it helps to take the pill with food. Anti-nausea tablets are available on prescription if needed. Some women experience a change in bleeding pattern and this is in response to hormone fluctuations. Your next period may come at the normal time, but it may be early or late and it could be heavier than usual. All scenarios are normal.
If you don’t get your next period, or it is very light, you should have a pregnancy test.
It may be a good time to consider reliable birth control options.

Hello! I promised myself that I would come back here to leave a review if everything worked out exactly as wanted. First, I would like to say for those of you who are panicking, don't panic! Everything will be fine
hi so this happened to me and I haven’t gotten my period what so ever this month. All though I do get cramps should I be worried?
Did everything turn out okay?
Hi there! First of all, do not worry! Your period will come eventually. I had my period from 6 -10 June 201. Had sex on 11 June but the condom had broken and he came in me. I freaked out and took Postinor 2 which is an ECP that has to be taken in two doses 12 hours apart. After that I had nausea for a couple of days. Then on 16 June I had terrible abdominal cramps and slightly started bleeding the next day. It then developed into full blown period like bleeding from 17 - 21 June. Then I was totally worried.I shpuld have gotten my period on 3 July and generally it's like clock work. Freaked out and took two pregnancy tests which came negative. Then, finally I got my period on 11 July 9 days after I should have had it! Heavier cramps and heavier bleeding! So I'm here to tell you don't worry! Apart from the ECP our unnecessary worrying also messes up the cycle. This forum helped me when I was worried so I want to give back!! Good luck ladies and don't worry!
Unfortunately this is not the outcome for many who use emergency contraception. It's important that women are prepared to deal with things if pregnancy is the outcome. I could tell all of them that come here not to worry & everything will be fine, but then I see the ones it didn't work out for, & who come here trying to warn others that emergency contraception does not always work.
For that reason we try to give balanced feedback, so that women are prepared whatever the outcome, & to prevent women just relying on emergency contraception, which definitely does not always work.
It's actually hard to know if it works as much as people think, because they'd need to know for definite that they'd havd becone pregnant otherwise, which is impossible to know. Not everyone conceives just because they are fertile.
So it's really important to by all means share your experience, but not to give false hope.
Just my thoughts based on what I see & deal with here.
Hey I need some help, I had sex during my fertility days with a condom but it broke and though the sperm went inside me (20th) then took the pill (21st) within 15hrs, today is the 27th and I started bleeding since yesterday with cramps, the blood looks dark brown with a mix of red but it’s a bit of a medium flow, does this mean I’m pregnant or is it just a side effect? My period isn’t due until about the 7th next month(12 days) I feel like this is my period but it’s way too early for it, and it doesn’t seem like spotting, someone please help!?
Don't worry it's the effect of the pill, your next period will be late, the bleeding may turn into full blown period in a day or so, don't be scared.
Hi vicik32 same thing is happening to me... I had sex first day of fertility. He came in the condom. But the condom got left behind when he came out. This was the 30th of June I took the pill on the same day. On the 6th of July I started feeling cramps and started to bleed. Medium flow as well dark brownish with hints of red... was it the pill that cause this or am I pregnant?
I experienced the same thing as all of you have and I turned out to be ok!! Since the previous replies have helped me feel better about the situation, I would like to share my story and hope it helps you to ease out a bit too.
Had protected sex the day my period ended on 20 Jan and took the pill within 24 hours cause I was paranoid (this is the postinor-2 pill which has the same effect, just diff brands I think cause im not in the US). After 5 days on 25 Jan I started spotting then turned into bleeding for 3 days. It was just a bit lighter than my usual period. My next period was expected on 15 Feb, but it did not come. I am usually quite on time and even if it was delayed it would come within 5 days, but it didn’t. Then I got more freaked out cause I read the postinor-2 website that if periods are delayed for over 5 days then its not normal and I should go and see the doctors. It finally came on 24 Jan, which was 9 days late.
I was more relaxed when i worked out the probability of myself being pregnant, which is really low.. As I was not ovulating yet (I read online that 5 days before ovulation the % of pregnancy rate is almost 0%) and I also used a condom (2% chance of failure).. AND I took the pill within 24 hours (5% chance of failure), so.. It worked out to be very low indeed.. Most of you said you had sex right after your period so you should not be ovulating yet normally... And that you had the pill, which there is an extremely low chance you are pregnant!! So just relax. Your period will come.
By the way, I did some massages on my stomach by myself which I learnt from reading online that it helps induce my period so I tried. My period came the next day. If you’re quite positive that you are not pregnant maybe you could try.
So I think I’m on a similar situation, please HELP, I don’t wanna stress anymore.
I had protected sex the night after my period ended ( we checked, wasn’t broken) and the next day too, but I felt insecure and took the pill immediately (so took it 24h after the first intercourse and 2h after the second), 7 days later I slightly bled but then it got heavier with painful cramps (as usual) n lasted 2-3 more days (blood clots) by day 4 -5 it was gone (so I guess it was my period but shorter idk),
Three days later after it finished I slightly bled one day, five days that after I’m slightly bleeding again! I really don’t know what’s happening. Side effects of the next day pill? Pregnancy?
sorry for all the detail just wanted to make sure I get clear answers.
Since people still check answers here and I myself used to visit this page and found it useful, i will share my experience. Had sex on the last day of my period and ended up taking plan B within 17 hours. I have a 26-28 day cycle and probably didn’t need EC but didn’t want to take risk. Luckily I didn’t have any major side effects. 5 days later I had mild bleeding for around 3 days and there was no cramping . It felt like period but the flow was very less. After that everything looked and felt normal. I read all these comments and was pretty sure that my next period would be delayed but I was surprised and glad that it happend exactly on the day it was supposed to happen. Plan B didn’t delay it at all. Also except for fatigue, I did not notice any other side effect of the medicine. This was the first time I took it and probably the last time as well. But wanted to ease all of you that if you have taken it before ovulation, the chances are pretty high, you will be fine. Don’t stress.
I see people still regularly look at this so I want to put everyone’s mind at ease!! So for a little back story, I had my last period August 20-26, had sex with a condom on the 26th that didn’t break or slip as far as I know, but just to be safe because I’m paranoid took plan b the next day on the 27th. A week later in September 1st I had period like bleeding for 5 days with bad cramps. Freaked myself out thinking it was heavy implantation bleeding. So then I didn’t get another period for September and then skipped October all together, the whole time having major panic attacks, I even took 4 pregnancy tests (all negative) but I was still scared.
Then at the beginning on November my boobs started to hurt and I was peeing alllll the time, so here I thought this is it I’m pregnant it’s all over! But now by the love of god I got my period on November 13th, a whole 11 weeks after I took plan b!! So I just want to calm everyone down a little bit that this pill can wreck havoc on your cycle for a long time!!
This is the same thing that is happening to me I just wanted to see if you know if you are pregnant or not.
I know this is old but people still look it up.
I had sex about a day after my period. Then the next day, I took plan B. Fast forward a week later, I started to bleed and cramp. It was light but then turned heavy. It lasted about 3-4 days. So two and a half weeks after that, my breasts start to hurt, I feel cramps, Im nauseous, headaches and Im tired a lot. I thought I was pregnant. But I gave it a couple days and then boom, hello heavy flow. I had a full 5 day period.
Don't freak out. Try to relax.
Okay so my girlfriends period started on March 28th and ended on April 1st we had sex on match 31st 3 times in a row, 2nd time was like 5 minuets after the first and third time was like 10 minuets after the second (each time was with a new condom that says it’s pre lubed with spermicidal lubricant AND I pulled out before ejaculation) we then had sex on April 3rd 2 times in a row, second time was about 5-10 minuets after the first (each time I used the same kind of condoms from the 31st [new ones each time obviously] and I still pulled out too) she got scared and took an Emergency Contraceptive, the brand was “Take Action” on April 9th she started bleeding and she said it was really heavy bleeding, this lasted until April 13th.
Is this “heavy bleeding” her period even though it happened nearly 2 weeks after her previous period? And if it is then that means her next period should come around May 6/7
I forgot to add that she took the emergency contraceptive on April 3rd about an hour and a half after the sex
i had the same situation happen to me. Had sex the last day of my period and took a plan b that day same day. A week later started bleeding that seemed like a period. I didnt get my period afterward intill like 5-6 weeks later. And no I was not pregnant.
I know this was posted about 3 years ago, but I'm literally having this exact same situation. Like if I wrote what I am going through, this would be it. Did your period end up being late? If so by how long? Did you get any other period side effects? What kind of side effects did you get? I mean that is if you can remember.
Did ur period start? I'm dealing with the exact same thing
Taking the Plan B or morning after pill on the first or second week of your menstrual cycle will cause you to have spotting in between your period- about a week after you take the morning after pill and your next period may come early. Taking it on the third or fourth week may result in spotting as well (maybe no) and your period might come late. It is highly unlikely you will get pregnant when you take the morning after pill if you haven't ovulated or am far off your ovulation. You should take note of your ovulation (its when you have white or clear watery discharge and some uterus cramping. Most accurate is when you feel a twinge in either side of your uterus and your left breast has a twinge straight after). If you spotted, you're definitely not pregnant.
I took the morning after pill a few days after my period and what I wrote above is exactly what happened to me. (I was unfortunate to have to take the morning after pill again- this was after my spotting was over). My period came as predicted but my cycle is always regular. My next cycle was as usual, but I experienced really bad PMS and spotted before my period too. It can mess up your cycle a bit. I'm all good now and to anyone reading this, you shouldn't worry too much.
You don't need it if he didn't came in you anyway. If you're very near your period, you're not fertile, so don't stress your body. Hope this helps!
