Gluterate may be USED and REUSED as a sterilizer or disinfectant in manual (bucket or tray) system for up to 30 days or when the Minimum Effective Concentration (MEC) is attained as determined by the Glutaraldehyde Concentration Indicator Test Strip.

Directions For Use

INSTRUMENT PREPARATION: Instruments/devices must be thoroughly cleaned, rinsed and rough-dried before immersing in Gluterate.

STERILIZATION: Required for critical devices: instruments/devices which routinely penetrate the skin (e.g. implants, scalpels, needles, surgical instruments, laparoscopes, burrs) or mucous membrane into normally sterile areas of the body, or come into direct contact with recirculating body fluids (e.g. kidney dialysis tubing and dializers, or blood oxygenators). Completely immerse instruments/devices, filling and flushing all hollow equipment and cavities, for a minimum of 10 hours at room temperature (20°C) to destroy resistant pathogenic spores. After removal from Gluterate, rinse thoroughly with sterile water.

HIGH-LEVEL DISINFECTION: Required for semi-critical devices: instruments/devices which come in contact with mucous membranes during use but do not usually penetrate normally sterile areas of the body (e.g. endoscopes, anesthesia breathing circuits, respiratory therapy equipment, dental mirrors, etc.). Completely immerse instruments/devices, filling and flushing all hollow equipment and cavities, for a minimum of 20 minutes at room temperature (20°C) to ensure complete destruction of pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and viruses and reduction in endospores. After removal from Gluterate, rinse thoroughly with sterile water.

INTERMEDIATE-LEVEL DISINFECTION: Required for non-critical devices: instruments/devices contact only intact skin during routine use (e.g. stethoscopes, bedpans, etc.). Completely immerse instruments/devices, filling and flushing all hollow equipment and cavities, for a minimum of 10 minutes at room temperature (20°C) to destroy vegetative bacteria including TB, fungi, and viruses. After removal from Gluterate, rinse thoroughly with potable water.

NOTE: Do not immerse carbon steel objects (e.g. dental burrs) for longer than necessary to achieve the desired effect. Use in covered vessels to avoid evaporation. Efficacy of the product during its use life must be verified by test strips to determine that at least the MEC of 1.5% glutaraldehyde is present.

ACTIVE INGREDIENT- Glutaraldehyde - 2% INERT INGREDIENTS - 98%
